Challenge
A Plus Rail and Civil was engaged to deliver a complex rail roundabout upgrade in a vital and active corridor of the New South Wales train system. The scope required removing existing railyard components, grooming the surface to a depth of 1200mm and regrading the site while addressing persistent stormwater drainage issues. The project was constrained by tight timeframes, operational safety regulations and the need to coordinate various teams in a high-risk, high-traffic environment.
Solution
We implemented a detailed project management plan that balanced resource coordination, safety and technical execution. Our team brought together certified welders, civil labourers and protection staff to manage logistics and labour flow through the site. Working from Sydney Trains’ designs, we managed every stage—from excavation and drainage, to sleeper placement, rail installation and welds. With only limited track access windows, the team executed each phase with precision, ensuring readiness and responsiveness at every stage.
Result
The project was completed ahead of schedule, with zero safety incidents and full compliance across all technical specifications. Our successful delivery not only enhanced the operational efficiency of the rail corridor but also led to further work with the client across their network. The project stands as a model of collaboration, preparation and execution under pressure.
